WWE star Karrior Kross and his partner Scarlett’s contract with the WWE expired in August 2025. And while the two did sit down for contract negotiations with representatives from the company, things did not pan out. As such, the duo decided to leave the promotion behind for good, without renewing their contract, despite massive crowd backing for the wrestler. Recently, the couple appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, where both Kross and Scarlett revealed what really went down behind the scenes.
Karrion to Killer Kross – What really happened?
Karrion Kross, who now goes by the name of Killer Kross in the Independent Circuit, was with the WWE until recently, when his three year contract with the company came to an end. Him, along with his wrestling partner and real-life wife, Scarlett, recently sat for an interview where he spoke of why the contract negotiations fell through, even though he had massive crowd backing.
“I remember somebody calling me like ‘Hey man, that’s not going to go on forever, you should probably take the deal.’ First of all, our success is not predicated on the fans hijacking the show.”
Killer Kross (fka Karrion Kross) on the idea that “we want Kross” chants on WWE TV wouldn’t last forever:

He felt that just because fans were chanting his name, did not decide his success or failure, but it also did not mean that he did not appreciate all the love and support he got from them. While many asked him to bank on crowd support, he decided otherwise.
Karrior Kross felt devalued by WWE
Even though Karrion Kross merchandise sales had massive numbers, and the crowd chanting his name felt amazing, that allegedly did not matter to the company, or its representatives. Kross said, “Forbes wrote an article that we were the top seller in the company for the merchandise. He didn’t want to look at any of that. He’s telling me that’s irrelevant to the conversation in determining my value.”

So when they saw that their story or their contribution had little to no value, and the negotiations felt devalued, they thought it better to leave than extend their contract. Currently, he is working the independent circuit, and has made multiple appearances in different promotions.
