Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. (born August 3, 1977 in San Mateo, California) is a retired American football quarterback widely regarded as the greatest of all time (GOAT) in NFL history. Brady played 23 seasons in the NFL — 20 with the New England Patriots (2000–2019) and 3 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2020–2022), before announcing his retirement in February 2023. Over his career, Brady won a record 7 Super Bowl championships (Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI, LIII with New England, and LV with Tampa Bay), was named Super Bowl MVP five times, and won the NFL MVP award three times (2007, 2010, 2017). He finished his career with 89,214 passing yards, 649 touchdown passes, a 97.7 passer rating, and a 251–83 regular-season win-loss record as a starter — all NFL records. Brady was selected in the 6th round (199th overall pick) of the 2000 NFL Draft out of the University of Michigan, and rose from backup quarterback to become the face of the NFL’s most successful dynasty. He wore jersey number 12 throughout his career. Brady was also a highly decorated college baseball prospect (drafted by the Montreal Expos in 1995) before choosing football. Off the field, he is known for his TB12 health and performance brand, philanthropic work, and media ventures including a minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.
