Lauren Kyle reveals how life with Connor McDavid made her love hockey

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid’s wife, Lauren Kyle, opened up this week about how hockey has become a huge part of her life. Lauren revealed how her relationship to the sport had changed since meeting Connor in a fresh interview with The Kit that appeared on October 7, 2025. She stated that over time she had come to value hockey even if she had not grown up surrounded it. “Now, hockey isn’t just something I watch. It’s become a part of my world,” she said.

Lauren Kyle explained that her connection to hockey has even shaped her career and sense of style. “I didn’t grow up deeply immersed in hockey, even though my brothers loved it,” she told The Kit. “It wasn’t until I met Connor that I truly began to understand the game — the skill, the strategy, the passion that drives it.”

Lauren said she wanted to make game-day fashion both comfortable and stylish. “Fans love showing support through team merch, but for a long time, the options lacked style,” she said. “That’s what inspired me to create Sports Club Atelier — pieces that can take you from game day and beyond.”
Lauren shared that her own hockey-game outfits usually include denim jeans, a knit sweater, and a team hat. She finishes her appearance with a purse, tiny jewelry, and a belt. Built on the same concept casual but elegant sportswear her brand Sports Club Atelier debuted in December 2024.
Connor McDavid and Lauren Kyle celebrate new contract with a sweet gift
Keeping him with the Edmonton Oilers through the 2027–28 NHL season, Connor McDavid signed a two-year, $25 million contract extension just days before Lauren’s interview. Following the news, Lauren surprised Leon Draisaitl and his wife, actress Celeste Desjardins, beautifully.
On Instagram, Lauren posted a photo of a floral bouquet and a note that read, “Congratulations! Two extra years with our favorite people. We love you guys. Let’s win this thing! Love, Cel, Leon, and Bobo.” She tagged both Leon and Celeste, adding a teary-eyed emoji to show her gratitude.
