Auston Matthews, the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs has been facing problems with consistency this season, and the recent injury has just contributed to the concerns. Following his departure during the Tuesday match against the Boston Bruins because of a blow by Nikita Zadorov, many people are asking whether Matthews is still capable of playing at the same elite level as expected by fans. OverDrive analyst Bryan Hayes thinks that the company has Matthews should seek to show himself once again to be allowed to play in the highest ranks of the league among Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon.
Is Bryan Hayes worried about the declining supremacy of Auston Matthews?
Bryan Hayes had no reservations about how to express his view regarding the performance of Matthews on OverDrive on TSN 1050. He said that the previous season’s poor performance might be attributed to injuries but this time around the poor performance is more difficult to address.
It was already the 17th game, and it appeared that we were going to have a 40 goal and 85 point season, according to Hayes, when he said that Matthews must play like a franchise player.
Losers of three straight, Toronto will be without captain Auston Matthews for at least a week. What should the message be to turn things around? Is it close to panic time?

Hayes also likened the present version of Matthews to NHL superstars such as McDavid, MacKinnon and Draisaitl, and pointed out that Maple Leafs captain must be included in that lineup.
Hayes believes that Matthews can do a lot more and he should demonstrate this when he comes back after getting injured.
Uncertainty of Injuries puts you my a strain on Auston Matthews and the Maple Leafs
After the Bruins match, Toronto head coach Craig Berube said that the lower-body injury of Matthews was still being evaluated. We will see tomorrow, he said and left fans wondering whether their captain will be in the line against the LA Kings.
The lack of goals and assists has seen Matthews score nine times with five assists that give him 14 points this season in 17 games, which is not very good, considering that he is a good player.
As the performance of the Toronto team has already come under fire, the club is in dire need to have its star performer back on his feet and prove himself to be among the most feared goal scorers in the NHL when he comes back.
