The artist said how uncertain she was first and how her mother was instrumental in pushing her to take a chance on love.

According to Taylor Swift, the narrative began in 2023 when Travis Kelce came to Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium for her Eras Tour concert.
He searched backstage for her but could not find her. A few days later on the New Heights podcast, co-hosted with his brother Jason Kelce, he spoke about the event.
Online, the video spread quickly. Taylor Swift said her mother saw the headlines and resolved to act. Andrea Swift explained that she even called her cousin Robin, who follows the Kansas City Chiefs closely, to ask about Kelce.
“He really loves his mom,” Andrea was told. Andrea said that was the moment she thought, “Okay, this is interesting.”
Taylor Swift admitted she was confused at first. She said she had always dated non-athletes and worried they would not have much in common. “You gotta start doing something different,” Andrea told her, according to Taylor. That advice pushed her to finally meet Kelce.

In the same episode, Taylor Swift also spoke honestly about her love life before meeting Travis Kelce. She said dating felt “hard” and emotionally draining.
“Nothing works. There’s no one for me in the world,” she said while describing how lonely she felt at times.
Taylor Swift was in a long relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn before Kelce. In 2023 they parted ways. Though neither confirmed a serious relationship, she was also briefly associated with musician Matty Healy.
