On Monday, November 10, 2025, the New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll after a 24–20 loss to the Chicago Bears at MetLife Stadium. The defeat dropped the Giants to 2–8, ending Daboll’s fourth season with the team. Soon after, former Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman spoke on his podcast “Games With Names”, sharing his thoughts on Daboll’s next move. Edelman said he could see Daboll returning to the Buffalo Bills to work again with Josh Allen, the quarterback he helped develop into one of the NFL’s top players.
Julian Edelman believes Brian Daboll could return to Buffalo to work with Josh Allen
During his show, Julian Edelman gave an honest opinion about Brian Daboll’s future. “I could see him going back to Buffalo maybe, with Josh Allen,” Edelman said at around the 15-minute mark. “He helped develop Josh. I like that move. I don’t know about head coach … they’re doing decent things, but I don’t know.”
Edelman also shared one of his most direct thoughts about coaching changes in football. “You can’t change unless you change,” he said.
The former New England Patriots wide receiver explained that if the Buffalo Bills get eliminated early in the playoffs again, they might need to rethink their coaching setup.
With fans speculating whether Brian Daboll and Josh Allen may actually meet, Edelman’s remarks quickly went viral over social media.
Many still give Daboll credit for influencing Allen’s precision, self-assurance, and decision-making during their years in Buffalo. Allen freely admitted he had lost one of his greatest mentors when Daboll went to lead the Giants in 2022.

Sean McDermott reacts to reunion rumors after Brian Daboll’s firing
A day later, on Tuesday, November 11, reporters asked Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott about the growing speculation. McDermott quickly dismissed the idea.
“Yeah, no, I understand why you’re asking that,” McDermott told reporters. “Brian’s a great coach. Unfortunate to see that happen to him. At this point, that’s not under any type of consideration.”
McDermott’s courteous tone did not end the discussion either. Given his success collaborating with Josh Allen from 2018 to 2021, many NFL insiders think Daboll may soon find yet another top position.
Brian Daboll still has a solid reputation as a coach, even if his tenure with the Giants was shorter than planned. Fans all across the league are also keeping a tight eye on Buffalo since Julian Edelman’s remarks have set fresh discussion.
