Smriti Mandhana has shifted her full focus back to cricket after confirming that her wedding with musician Palash Muchhal has been called off. The update came after days of public speculation around her personal life. The wedding was first postponed when Smriti Mandhana’s father was hospitalized due to health concerns earlier in November. On Tuesday, December 10, a quiet but clear sign of her next step came when her brother Shravan Mandhana shared a photo of her practising in the nets.

Shravan Mandhana posted an Instagram story showing Smriti Mandhana batting during a net session. She looked focused and calm, dressed in full training gear.

Along with the image, he added the song “Remember the Name” by Fort Minor, which many fans connected to strength, grit, and moving forward.

The post came just a day after Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal mutually decided to call off the wedding. The ceremony was originally scheduled for November 23.

It was delayed earlier after Smriti Mandhana’s father required medical attention. After discussions between both families, the decision was made not to go ahead with the marriage.

Sources close to the Indian women’s cricket setup said Smriti Mandhana returned to practice soon after making her personal statement.

She is expected to be part of plans for India’s upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. The series is scheduled to begin on Sunday, December 21, with matches to be played in India.

Fans reacted warmly to the training photo. Many praised her strength and choice to focus on her career during a sensitive time. Social media was filled with messages supporting her calm response.

Smriti Mandhana addresses wedding decision and says India remains her priority

Smriti Mandhana spoke publicly earlier this week through her verified social media accounts. She said she prefers to keep her personal life private but felt it was important to clear the confusion.

“Over the past few weeks there has been a lot of speculation around my life,” Smriti Mandhana wrote. “I want to clarify that the wedding has been called off.”

She requested privacy for both families and asked people to allow space to heal and move on. Smriti Mandhana also made her focus very clear.

“I believe there is a higher purpose,” she said. “For me, that purpose has always been representing my country and winning trophies for India.”

The statement was reported by Times Now and other major sports outlets. Smriti Mandhana, a key member of India’s Women’s World Cup 2025-winning team, now appears fully committed to cricket as her next chapter begins.
