Virat Kohli met MS Dhoni at his Ranchi home on Thursday, November 27, 2025, just three days before India play the first ODI against South Africa at the JSCA International Stadium Complex on November 30. Virat Kohli reached Dhoni’s house in the evening after arriving in Ranchi the day before, and the moment went viral when MS Dhoni personally drove him back to the team hotel. As reported by Hindustan Times, Rishabh Pant and Ruturaj Gaikwad were also present at Dhoni’s home during the friendly visit.
MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli meet in Ranchi before India’s ODI return
The meeting between MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli created a huge buzz as fans gathered outside Dhoni’s residence on Thursday.
A fan told ANI, “Seeing MS Dhoni drive Virat Kohli himself felt very warm.” In the little online video, Virat Kohli sat alongside MS Dhoni while he drove behind the wheel.
After Virat Kohli came from Mumbai on November 25 and arrived to Ranchi on November 26 to meet the team, the visit followed.
Virat Kohli will be aiming for a great series on the cricket front after India lost the two-match Test series earlier this month.
Shubman Gill is out with a neck injury, therefore KL Rahul would lead the ODI team in the next game.
Starting the three-match ODI series at 1:30 PM IST on Saturday in Ranchi, Team India hopes for a better beginning in the 50-over form.

Virat Kohli enters the Ranchi ODI with a huge record at the stadium
With one of his best ODI records in Ranchi, Virat Kohli. With a staggering average of 192.00 and a strike rate of 109.40 in four innings, he has scored 384 runs across five ODIs at the JSCA International Stadium Complex.
His venue record comprises two centuries and one fifty, with an unmatched 139 being his best score.
Since Virat Kohli first appeared in ODI in 2008, he has played 305 games and amassed 14,255 runs, making him second-highest run scorer in ODI history behind just Sachin Tendulkar’s 18,426 runs.
With 51 hundreds and 75 fifties under his belt, his career average is 57.71.A BCCI member told Star Sports, “Virat Kohli feels very confident in Ranchi, and the ground has always suited his game.”
