Mustafizur Rahman becomes the most expensive Bangladeshi player in the IPL after record-breaking bid in mini auction

In the Indian Premier League auction held in Abu Dhabi on the 16th of December 2025, Mustafizur Rahman broke his own record and became the most expensive Bangladeshi cricketer in the history of the Indian Premier League. The left-arm pacer was secured by Kolkata Knight Riders for 9.20 crore Indian rupees, which makes him the most expensive one from the Bangladeshi team. 

Mustafizur’s performance in T20 cricket and his phenomenal skills helped him in making this record, and even though the budgets were more constrained, he managed to back his position with a valuable amount. 

Fierce bidding war highlights his value

The base price Mustafizur’s bid in the premier league was ₹2 crore, which was typically the highest available bracket in the IPL auction. There were many franchises, most of them were prominent ones, and the budding was initiated by Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The bid was followed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals, and the winning offer was presented by KKR.

Mustafizur is known for his death-over bowling and brings vast experience to the KR team. He was featured in many IPL games with different franchises and has taken crucial wickets in the match. He throws very precise yorkers, which makes him valuable in the team, and is always treated as an asset from whichever team he plays. 

In the previous year of the tournament, he was signed for ₹6 crore by the Delhi Capitals team, which means he has surpassed his own records and has become a standout player for Bangladeshi cricket.
