Mukul Chaudhary’s Last-Over Heroics Deliver a Stunning Victory for LSG
If cricket is a game of moments, then on Thursday night at Eden Gardens, Mukul Chaudhary crafted a moment in the final over that will be remembered forever. The Lucknow Super Giants faced a seemingly impossible task, and a 22-year-old lower-order batsman accomplished it with a remarkably calm mind and lightning-fast batting.

Vaibhav Arora, one of KKR’s most trusted death bowlers, stepped up to bowl the final over; even at that stage, the scales of victory still appeared to be tipped in KKR’s favor. The over began quietly—Avesh Khan played a short-pitched delivery towards the covers for a single, bringing Chaudhary back on strike. What followed was nothing short of a miracle.
Arora deployed every trick in his death-bowling repertoire: two consecutive yorkers aimed squarely at the toes, followed by a full-length delivery that offered an opportunity for a big shot—yet Chaudhary missed once, missed twice, and missed a third time. The pressure was so intense that even breathing felt difficult. With every dot ball, the roar of the crowd at Eden Gardens grew louder. It seemed as though Arora had completely cornered Chaudhary.
Then came the moment that changed everything. A good-length delivery just outside off-stump—a ball begging to be driven—but Chaudhary didn’t drive it. He flicked it. High into the air. Over fine leg. Straight into the stands. Six runs. The match had suddenly come alive. The commentator’s words captured the entire narrative: “He has completely turned the tables on this match!”
One ball later, Arora pitched the ball slightly fuller and further outside off-stump—and Chaudhary executed a magnificent lofted cover drive, sending the ball soaring over deep cover for yet another six. Two sixes in three balls against one of the tournament’s finest death bowlers. The scores were settled. LSG had crossed the finish line; they secured a 3-wicket victory, and this match will be remembered as one of the most thrilling finishes of IPL 2026.
Mukul Chaudhary didn’t just win the match. He made the moment his own.
Lucknow Super Giants put up a valiant but ultimately insufficient chase against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Thursday, finishing their IPL 2026 innings at 152/7 and falling well short of KKR’s competitive 181-run target.
The chase began briskly with Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram combining for a 41-run opening stand, but Vaibhav Arora struck twice in quick succession in the fifth over to send both openers back in the pavilion and put LSG firmly on the back foot at 42/2.
Rishabh Pant walked in with intent but could only manage 10 before being dismissed by Cameron Green, leaving LSG reeling at 73/3. The innings’ brightest spark came from Ayush Badoni, who played a stunning anchor-and-accelerator role, top-scoring with a fluent 54 off 34 balls, laced with seven fours and two sixes, before falling to Anukul Roy in the 15th over.
Nicholas Pooran struggled to find his touch, managing only 13 off 15 balls, while the lower order — Abdul Samad, Mohammad Shami, and tail-ender Avesh Khan — contributed little. Mukul Choudhary provided some late fireworks with an unbeaten 26 off 16, including three sixes, but the required run rate had climbed beyond reach.
KKR’s bowlers were disciplined throughout, with Anukul Roy (2/32) and Vaibhav Arora (2/25) the pick of the attack, sealing a comfortable victory for the Knights.
