The legendary former captain of the Indian cricket team, MS Dhoni, has taken over the media both on the field and off the field. As of 2025, his net worth was ₹1,060 crore (approx. $130 million), and he is one of the richest cricketers in the world. Having led India to the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, Dhoni is known for his calmness and astuteness as a leader. Apart from cricket, he has established a huge empire through brand endorsement, business, and investments, making him an unparalleled icon in the field of several industrial sectors.

IPL 2025 contract details for MS Dhoni

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) retained Dhoni for ₹4 crore for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The money was the least he ever got for IPL, as he was listed as uncapped this time due to BCCI rules. His leadership and brand value are still invaluable for the franchise, though.

His ₹4 crore salary is appropriate considering the expectation of a player who is still the captain, and adds value with his astute cricketing brain, albeit with fewer appearances in the 22 yards, thanks to his age.

However, none of the above can be matched in terms of brand value and marketability when it comes to Dhoni’s presence or absence in the CSK and IPL, CSK’s retention of M.S. Dhoni, even with his reduced salary, only justifies how significant the Thala is for CSK and the Indian Premier League as a whole due to his legacy of perhaps one of the best captains in the history of the league.

Brand endorsements and business ventures of MS Dhoni

Dhoni’s brand value is estimated at ₹803 crore, with endorsements from over 70 brands, including Pepsi, Reebok, and Gulf Oil. His business ventures are diverse, encompassing:

  • Fashion: Owner of the clothing brand SEVEN
  • Fitness: Co-owner of the SportsFit fitness chain.
  • Entertainment: His wife, Sakshi Dhoni, manages Dhoni Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which has announced a film titled “Let’s Get Married.”

Dhoni is also a co-owner of Indian Super League football club Chennaiyin FC and has shares in a few start-ups too. His earnings are mostly through investments and ventures, which also account for a whopping ₹50 crore profit a year.

The financial success of MS Dhoni is a testament to his strategic approach on the cricket field and in the real world. His various income sources make him one of the most talked-about personalities in Indian sports and business.
