The pair first met as nine-year-olds, playing in the same junior cricket competition in Sydney’s Northern District Junior Cricket Association. Then, a year later, they were on the same youth side, taking turns behind the stumps, and being coached by Starc’s father, Paul.

Both of them, in their teens, moved to Melbourne, and their simple friendship and love for cricket developed. Starc once liked the rest of us, “got a bit of a thing for the little blonde keeper,” highlighting the spark of friendship that would blossom between the pair over the years.

From engagement to marriage and beyond
