Conflicting reports surfaced, with some claiming that Naqvi apologized to the BCCI but declined to return the trophy, while others refuted any apology. ACC President Mohsin Naqvi informed Hindustan Times that he had not apologized and that India needs to pick up the trophy from his office.

Pakistani content creator Farid Khan shared on X that Naqvi told the BCCI he didn’t have time and that they wouldn’t be getting the trophy, suggesting BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla to talk about it later.

BCCI journalist Kushan Sarkar mentioned on X that tensions were running high before the final due to the complaints filed and Naqvi’s posts. Anand Narasimhan from CNN-News18 shared on X regarding the violation and was waiting for the BCCI’s response.

The long-term effects are still unclear. The BCCI, which has a lot of power in the world of cricket, might advocate for Naqvi’s removal from the ICC board.
